Macy's Santaland Returns for 2021 to Spread Holiday Joy to Families

Macy's Santaland Returns for 2021 to Spread Holiday Joy to Families

The popular Macy's Santaland returns for in-person visits in 2021 after going virtual in last year

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, we're telling you why: Santa Claus is coming back to Macy’s Santaland for 2021! The popular event is back in person this year, after it was held virtually through Santaland at Home last year due to the pandemic. A holiday tradition since 1861, Macy's promises a huge and exciting experience for all who visit this festive village at Macy's 34th Street location!

Although activities and details of the in-person experience aren't available yet, lots of holiday fun is being planned, according to the Macy's website. But one thing's for sure: All visitors will have a chance to meet and take photos with Santa himself! Similar to recent years, reservations will be required to visit. They can be made on the Macy's website once more details have been finalized, so leave space on your calendar for this fun family holiday activity

To kick off the holiday season, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! It's welcoming back spectators in person after a limited experience last year. Plus, it will air nationwide on NBC from 9am-12pm. (The Thanksgiving Day Parade is also the first time your kids can see Santa this holiday season, as his sleigh traditionally ends the parade.)

When does Macy's Santaland 2021 open?

Macy’s Santaland 2021 will be open Nov. 26-Dec. 24, though exact hours are yet to be finalized. Check the Macy's website for updates. We'll also update readers online as more information becomes available.

Where is Macy's Santaland located?

Santaland is located at Macy's, 151 W. 34 St., Herald Square. Traditionally, it takes place on the 8th floor.

Are reservations required to visit?

Santa is a very busy man and has lots of orders to fill, so reservations are required. This also helps cut down on waiting time to see the big guy. Reservations will “open five days in advance of the desired visit date to allow for the most access possible to guests wishing to attend in-person,” according to Macy’s. Check the website for updates on how and when you can book your spot.

How much does Santaland cost?

Admission is free! But parents will most likely want to purchase a professional photo of the kids with Santa at the end of the event. Prices of photos haven't been announced yet, but in the past they started at around $20. You can also take photos with your own phone

Does Macy's Santaland accommodate people with special needs?

Yes. According to Macy's, Santaland is accessible to all visitors. If you require special accommodations under the ADA, Macy's asks that you make note of it at the time your reservation is created and email the appropriate contact as noted in the reservation system.

What COVID safety precautions will be in place at Santaland?

Macy's is implementing several safety measures to provide a safe experience of visitors, according to its website. Some of these include mandatory face coverings for staff, increased cleaning procedures for all high-touch surfaces and social distancing. Macy's is also monitoring and aligning with local and state health guidelines.

Will Macy’s Santaland be virtual this year?

Yes! The Santaland at Home virtual experience will still be available this year for parents and kids who don't want or aren’t able to visit Santaland in person. The virtual experience is designed for children of all ages and will be available from Friday, Nov. 26, to Friday, Dec. 24. Kids will travel virtually through Santaland, meet the elves, engage with magical holiday scenes, and play fun games. And, of course, they'll get to meet St. Nick himself, ending the experience with an interactive Santa selfie!
