Is your son or daughter itching to try a new sport? Why not try lacrosse? Brooklyn Lacrosse Club, which has fields on Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 5, is starting its first competitive season this spring. With teams for boys and girls, your athlete will have fun while being active.

Brooklyn Lacrosse Club is a not-for-profit organization that introduces lacrosse to Brooklyn youth through clinics. While it was founded last summer, the organization will participate in its first competition season starting March 3, playing against teams from Harlem, Long Island, Westchester County, and New Jersey.

With practice and game fields located at the newly open Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, the club aims to bring the fundamentals of lacrosse to city kids while teaching practical skills such as teamwork, discipline, and fitness. The program offers seven team divisions, catering to both boys and girls in pre-k through eighth grade. “We just felt that lacrosse is such a unique sport and would really catch on with a lot of kids,” says Joe Nocella, the program’s director.

The $99 registration fee includes weekly practice sessions, optional weekend practices, a US Lacrosse membership, and uniforms. “It does not include equipment,” Noccella adds. “However, we have an equipment grant where we’re able to provide equipment for kids who aren’t able to afford it. We don’t turn anyone away for not being able to pay.”

Registration is ongoing and cost will be prorated for any time your child misses.
