Dimensions on Stage, a new acting and musical theatre school, opened its doors in Bay Ridge next to the Dimensions in Dance studio.
For dancing queens and kings that love the 32-year-old Dimensions in Dance, the same studio now offers Dimensions on Stage. The partner studio provides a space for young actors, actresses, and performers in the building next door. As an add-on to the dance program, Dimensions on Stage teaches singing, acting, musical theatre, audition preparation, and film, TV, and on-camera work.
Director Lauren McElroy, who worked at an actress before becoming a partner at the studio, used her connections to secure qualified instructors. "I wanted to have a variety of people to make sure these kids get the best possible training," says McElroy. "These people are talented entertainers and extremely talented teachers."
Although the musical theatre classes seem to be the most popular, Dimensions on Stage specializes in audition preparation. "It's all about giving kids the confidence so they can walk into any audition and know they are prepared to put their best foot forward," says McElroy. "The whole point of what we do is building these kids up and finding the things they want to do."
