Description: Internationally renowned master storyteller Charlotte Blake Alston performs selections from her wide repertoire of stories and songs from African and African-American oral traditions. Alston shares stories that transmit the beliefs, mythology, cultural identity, history, and community values that have circulated the African continent and were then brought to America. She breathes life into these traditional and contemporary stories, enhancing her tales with traditional instruments such as the djembe, the mbira, the shekere, and the 21-stringed kora.
