Description: The Dance Theatre of Westchester performs its family-friendly, full-length version of Tchaikovsky's ballet set in wintry, colonial Yorktown. The performance features a red-coated mouse army, an enchanted nutcracker prince, and simultaneous narration to help young audience members enjoy this timeless classic. Recommended for ages five and up.

Venue Description: Beginning as a collaborative project of the city of Brooklyn, the state of New York, the City University of New York, and Brooklyn College, the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts comprises now of four performance spaces: the 476-seat George Gershwin Theatre, the 150-seat Sam Levenson Recital Hall, the experimental New Workshop Theatre, and the art-deco style, 2,350-seat centerpiece Walt Whitman Theatre.

The center provides family entertainment of diverse topics that are both suitable for children and enjoyable for adults through the FamilyFun series. To expose the arts to local children, the center created SchoolTime, a program that brings thousands of children from all around Brooklyn to the center to experience live performances.

In addition to its regular theatre series and performances by students of Brooklyn College, the center houses community functions, such as meetings and lectures for the Flatbush, Midwood, Flatlands, Carroll Gardens, Sheepshead Bay, and Coney Island communities. All four of the center's venues are available to rent.

The Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts is located at 2900 Campus Road in Brooklyn. Off-street parking is available during performance times for a small fee and metered parking is available on nearby streets. The center is wheelchair-accessible. The box office, located in the Gershwin Theatre lobby foyer, is open Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm and one hour prior to curtain time for any ticketed event. To order tickets, call 718-951-4500 during box office hours. For more information, call 718-951-4600 or visit brooklyncenter.com.
